About Me

I began editing and writing promotional materials in 1988 in a continuing adult education department at the University of St. Thomas. While there, I was a co-winner of awards from the American Marketing Association and Midwest Direct Marketing Association for business-to-business communications that contributed to a 630 percent return on investment for the department.

Transitioning into the health care industry in 1996, my copywriting targeted communications to specific demographic groups based on factors such as age, income and lifestyle, primarily in highly regulated segments of the market. I wrote a wide range of business-to-consumer materials, sales presentations, case studies, direct mail packages and more.

Additionally, I was a two-year member of Toastmasters International, where I earned the designation of Competent Toastmaster (CTM) and Competent Leader (CL) while developing my ability to effectively write scripts and present speeches.

Prior to becoming a copywriter, I was part-owner of a business that distributed wholesale building materials, a salesperson and an administrative assistant. These experiences enable me to write copy that speaks clearly to internal or external audiences from the board room to the mail room. Although I am comfortable working in a broad range of industries, my strengths are in the areas of adult education, health and wellness, the building trades, insurance and professional services, faith-based initiatives, and mature markets.
